Since 1962, traveling consultants have served as the boots on the ground ambassadors for Kappa Delta. This month, ten incredible women, who will serve as LDCs for the next year, joined us in Memphis for in-person training. The goal was to “train the trainers,” so LDCs develop crucial and relevant skills needed to meet the needs of members today as they strive to be confident and take action in their lives. Here are a few highlights from their month-long visit!

Training with Lindsay Boccardo

Included in the LDC schedule was a full day training session with Lindsay Boccardo, a certified professional coach. Lindsay’s expertise is in connecting generations, communication, and leadership skill development.

Lindsay talked to the LDCs about the importance of and how to build greater self-awareness, how to be more aware of others, and covered tips for how to effectively give and receive feedback. These skills will be critical to their success working with chapters across the country.

Mental Health Training

To accompany Lindsay’s sessions, KD’s partner MJ Insurance provided mental health training by Will Frankenberger, Delta Zeta Sorority’s Chief Safety Officer. He guided our LDCs on how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders—both of which are prevalent on college campuses today.

Prepping for Life on the Road

In addition to all the leadership development, the LDCs also got down to business and dug into the specifics of everything they’ll need to know during their year on the road. They covered the nuts and bolts of visiting chapters and guiding them through recruitment, took a deep dive into KD policies and procedures and the Choose Your Confidence program, received advice for working with chapters and advisors, learned about trends in higher ed and college campuses, and were introduced to all the chapters they will be working with.

The FUN!

LDC training wouldn’t be complete without some fun sprinkled in! The LDCs enjoyed meals together at KDHQ, visited the Civil Rights Museum for a tour, went to Memphis Zoo, and even enjoyed a Memphis Red Birds game with the PIKE consultants! At the end of their time together, they also enjoyed brunch at Senior LDC Mimi McCarroll’s house and Executive Director Maggie Waples invited the LDCs to her home for a pool party and dinner!

All of this excellent personal and professional development is made possible because of your gifts to the Kappa Delta Foundation. Because of your generosity, LDCs will receive premier leadership training and will hit the ground running this fall equipped to support and strengthen our chapters and sisterhood. Thank you!
